We’re taught that big-picture thinking, blue-sky thinking and moonshots are how things change.
But the thinking that got us here might not be what gets us out.
Smaller by Design starts from a different place.
Real impact comes from small problems, handled well:
- the problems we can see,
- with the people we know,
- using the means we have,
- and with outcomes we can honestly answer for.
Why small
It’s partly a theory of change.
When many people improve their own corners, the health of the whole improves, and good ideas travel.
Nobody needs to hold the entire system in their head for that to happen.
It’s also a way of working that’s kinder to the people doing it.
The scale of the world’s challenges can weigh heavily on anyone trying to help.
Working at human scale takes that weight off, and puts the focus back on what’s within reach.
What we build
We design and build products and services that solve meaningful problems, at a scale that stays manageable and close to the people they serve.
Every project starts with the same questions:
- Can we see the problem clearly?
- Do we know the people it affects?
- Is the solution something we can hold in our heads?
- Are the outcomes ones we can honestly answer for?
Build with us
If you have a problem in your corner and want to solve it well, we’d like to hear about it.
We work best in partnership, building alongside the people who know the problem best.
Tell us about your corner
